Transfer Credits

The acceptance of transfer credits between academic institutions lies within the discretion of the receiving college or university. Credits earned at Taft Law School may or may not be accepted by another institution depending upon its own programs, policies, and regulations.

In general, Taft Law School only accepts transfer credits from accredited schools. However, if an applicant has earned credits at an unaccredited school and has passed the California First Year Law School Student's Examination, such credits will be considered for transfer on a case by case basis.

  1. Undergraduate Degrees

Taft Law School may award a maximum of 75 percent of the credits required for a Bachelor's degree program. Courses accepted for transfer credit are relevant to the program of study and equivalent in both content and degree level. Credit awarded for experiential or equivalent learning cannot exceed 25 percent of the credits required for a degree.

  2. Master's Degrees

Taft Law School may award a maximum of 50 percent of the credits required for a master's degree program through transfer credit. Courses accepted for transfer credit are relevant to the program of study and equivalent in both content and degree level.

  3. First Professional Degrees

Taft Law School may award a maxiumum of 50 percent of the credits required for a first professional degree program through transfer credit. Courses accepted for transfer credit are relevant to the program of study and equivalent in both content and degree level.

Students are able to appeal transfer credit decisions using published procedures. Transfer credit requests are not denied based solely on the source of accreditation of the credit-granting institution.

Taft Law School has not entered into any transfer or articulation agreement with any other school at this time.
