September 1 
David L. Boyd has been appointed by the Board of Governors of the State Bar of California to a three-year term as the sole distance learning law school representative to the California Law School Council. The Law School Council was organized to act as a liaison between California law schools and the Committee of Bar Examiners. It deals with matters relating to content and format of the bar examination and on all aspects of law school education relevant to the bar examination process as well as other items of interest and importance to the law school community. Council representatives presently include deans from the Stanford University School of Law, Loyola Law School, Hastings College of Law, the University of San Diego School of Law and California Western School of Law. The appointment becomes effective October 11, 2004.

Faculty member and alumnus, John A. Ciavarella (Master of Science in Taxation, 2001) reports that he has been admitted as a member of Financial Consulting Group (FCG). FCG is a prestigious consulting organization specializing in business valuation and litigation consulting.
August 17
Gregory Haughton (Master of Business Administration, 2002) is a member of the Jamaican Olympic track team currently competing in Athens, Greece.. Mr. Haughton won bronze metals in the 400 meter dash and the 1,600 meter relay in the 2000 Olympics held in Sydney, Australia. He was also a member of the 1,600 meter relay team which also earned a bronze metal in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia.

June 28  Lois Lee, Founder and President of Children Of The Night, Awarded Honorary Degree from The Taft University System Recognizing Twenty-Five Years of Service.

Faculty member Arthur Leahy has been published in the periodical "Briefing Notes in Economics." Dr. Leahy, an economist with the federal government in Washington DC, authored an article titled "The Determinants of Profitability in the Liquor Industry."
June 8 
Jonathan Levy (Juris Doctor 1991) reports he has been admitted by motion to the Bar of the District of Columbia. Levy has represented organizations and individuals in a variety of Holocaust and World War II related lawsuits including banking, insurance, and slave labor matters.

Taft University has been accepted as a member of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO). AACRAO is a non-profit, professional association of higher education administrators. Institutional membership is limited to nationally or regionally accredited colleges or universities.
